The 2008 Fresno City Elections

A Voters Guide

Photo of a man in a suit with a thumbs up gesture Candidates who have successfully qualified to run for the Fresno County Board of Supervisors, Fresno City Council or Mayor of Fresno in the June 2008 election and who will appear on the ballot are entitled to a free page on the Fresno2008.com website. Each candidate page is constructed to present a uniform view with limited text formatting. Statements will be published in uniform type, style and spacing (see Sample Candidate Page).

Candidate Photo

The candidate may provide one (1) photo for inclusion on the web page. The photo will not be more than 300 pixels wide and 300 pixels high and of a resolution of 72 dpi. It should be no more than 20 kilobytes in size. The photo size includes any border, drop shadow or caption. Only photos in the JPEG (.jpg or .jpeg) or PNG (.png) formats will be accepted.

The candidate photo may be submitted on a CD or as an attchment to an email message to john at fresno 2008 dot com.

Candidate Information

Each candidate must provide a statement of no more than 2,000 words for the web page. Contact information is optional and is not included in the word count.

The statement must include the candidate's name exactly as it will appear on the ballot and may include the candidate's age, occupation, education, qualifications and positions on issues relating to the City of Fresno. The statement shall not include the party affiliation of the candidate, nor membership or activity in partisan political organizations.

Each candidate is completely and exclusively responsible for his or her statement and its content and any civil or criminal action or penalty because of any false, slanderous, or libelous statements offered for publishing or published on the Fresno2008.com website.

Fresno2008 is not responsible for making corrections to a candidate's statement; therefore, candidates must carefully check their statements for errors in spelling, punctuation and grammar.

How to Submit Your Statement

The candidate statement must be submitted in a single, uniform font style and size. Paragraphs should be single-spaced and separated by a single line. Statements may include topic headings that are underlined and bold (see Sample Candidate Page). No other font or text stylings may be used at any other location in the candidate statement. Indentations, italics, capitalization, graphics, extra punctuation or bullets of any kind are not permitted.

Statements may be submitted as a Word (.doc) document or as plain text or otherwise in a format readable by Fresno2008.com. They also may be submitted on a CD or in the body of, or as an attchment to, an email message to john at fresno 2008 dot com.
